Mackenzie was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. She grew up playing on many sports teams but had a passion for running and soccer.
Electing to stay close to home, Mackenzie earned her Bachelors of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor. During this time she worked as a rehabilitation assistant in a long term care facility and at a cardiac rehabilitation practice under a physiotherapist. This experience ignited her passion for physiotherapy, which took her only 14,700 kilometers from Windsor, to Bond University on Australia’s Gold Coast. After earning a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree, with high distinction from Bond University, Mackenzie accepted a job from a large hospital in Perth Australia. This is where she gained skills across all patient fields, including outpatient physiotherapy, inpatient orthopaedics, neurology, inpatient rehabilitation and general medicine.
Mackenzie decided to move back to Canada. She wanted to live in Western Canada and ended up in Kelowna. She began a job at Kelowna General Hospital in 2023, in a new role of Physiotherapist in the Emergency department. Mackenzie has always had a passion for helping people navigate their pain journey and rehabilitating people back to the activities they love, leading her to starting with New Leaf Physiotherapy.
