HENRY KOHN
250.826.7300, henry@newleafphysio.ca

As a young child he developed a love for the martial arts; tae kwon do, judo and karate.  His other love was competitive football. Unfortunately, a knee injury ended his season. Henry returned to Kelowna to start his rehabilitation process, where he was introduced to physiotherapy.  Although it seemed like a tragic injury at the time, this is where he realized his passion. Helping people and high performance training.

Henry was born in Russia and he and his family immigrated to Canada when he was very young.  With family support the Kohn family made their way to Kelowna.

As a young child he developed a love for the martial arts; tae kwon do, judo and karate.  His other love was competitive football. He even had a chance to play football in the United States.  Unfortunately, a knee injury ended his season. Henry returned to Kelowna to start his rehabilitation process, where he was introduced to physiotherapy.  Although it seemed like a tragic injury at the time, this is where he realized his passion. Helping people and high performance training.

Henry worked as a personal trainer.  This is how he met one of his mentors, David Lee, the founder of Toshido MMA.  The gym life was born. Henry loved competing in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).  This led to a huge physical and mental transformation, to a much leaner and fitter expression of himself.  The transformation came from learning to work with the complex body movements and training demands of MMA. The road to growth had been laid.  Fusing Henry’s love of fitness and health care.

Henry graduated from the Rehabilitation Assistant program at Okanagan University College (OUC) in 2003 and started working at Kelowna General Hospital.  In December of 2005, he graduated from the Practical Nursing program at OUC. He really enjoyed working at Kelowna General Hospital with the patients and their complex health care needs.  This is where he met and developed a great friendship with Rob Ewanuk.

Henry is a family man.  He has a wife, Theresa, two children, Kyle and Cara.  He now enjoys training at the gym, running and volunteering in the community and with his children’s activities.  Henry’s favorite activity, other than hanging out with his kids and wife, is to help New Leaf Physiotherapy’s clients build and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

Henry is a wealth of knowledge in strength and conditioning as well as postoperative total hip and knee replacements rehabilitation protocols and is a super addition to the New Leaf Physiotherapy Team!
